- You can find new music on Spotify from artists you follow by checking the “What’s New” menu.
- The “Release Radar” playlist gathers all the new music from artists you follow, along with some new songs Spotify thinks you’ll like.
- Spotify’s “New Music Friday” page tracks new songs and albums from the most popular artists in the world, even if you’re not following them.
Spotify offers an unimaginable number of songs and albums, going back decades. But hundreds of new tracks are being added every day, and it’s easy to miss a new single from your favorite artists.
That’s why Spotify has at least three different tools you can use to keep up with all the new music being released:
The What’s New menu, the Release Radar playlist, and the New Music Friday page.
The first option, the What’s New menu, is only available in the Spotify mobile app. It lists all the new songs, albums, podcasts, upcoming concerts, and merchandise that the artists you follow have posted recently. You can use the options at the top to filter the list so it only shows music, podcasts, or merchandise and concerts.
When you find something you want to listen to or buy, just tap on it. The list goes back about two months, so you don’t have to worry about checking it every day.
To open the What’s New menu, open the Spotify app on your iPhone or Android and tap Home in the bottom-left corner. On the Home menu, tap the bell icon in the top-right.
Spotify’s Release Radar playlist has music from your favorite bands and more
Unlike the previous option, Release Radar is a full playlist. This means that not only can you save it to your Library, but you can listen to the entire list without having to start each song individually. And while the What’s New menu only tracks artists you follow, Release Radar tracks them and artists that Spotify thinks you’ll like.
The Release Radar playlist contains the 30 newest songs that your followed artists have released. It updates every Friday, which is traditionally the day that new albums debut.
You can find the Release Radar playlist in the Spotify mobile or desktop apps. Open the app and click or tap Search — it’ll be at the bottom of the screen on mobile, or in the top-left corner on desktop — then scroll down and select New releases. On the New Releases page, select Release Radar.
You’ll always find the Release Radar playlist here. But if you want even easier access, open the playlist and click or tap the heart icon.
New Music Friday is a massive playlist with songs from the world’s top artists
You don’t need to follow each and every artist on Spotify to keep up with the top tracks. Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist updates every week with all the latest singles from the biggest artists around.
It’s based entirely on popularity — your own music tastes don’t factor in at all. And it always has 100 different songs, which makes for at least four or five hours of listening.
Just like Release Radar, New Music Friday is a playlist, meaning you can listen without stopping and save it to your Library. Just tap the heart icon near the top of the list.
To find New Music Friday, open the Spotify mobile or desktop app and click or tap Search. Scroll down to select New releases, then select New Music Friday.
